I am a sucker for Irish Bars when abroad, and when I am in Amsterdam is no exception. Amsterdam thankfully boasts a variety of Irish pubs that bring the charm, warmth, and craic of Ireland to the Netherlands. In this article I’ll delve into some of my favourites across the city.

My favourite Irish bar in Amsterdam, and one I visit every time I am there without question. Conveniently located near Leidseplein and the entrance to the Vondelpark, Aran Irish Pub offers a perfect blend of Irish hospitality and Dutch charm. The pub’s bright and airy interior, combined with its outdoor seating area, makes it a great spot to relax and enjoy a drink, in sunshine or in rain (as is so common in Amsterdam!). Aran is known for its friendly staff, excellent pints of Guinness, and a solid selection of whiskeys. Aran Irish Pub is a must-visit on your trip to Amsterdam – a grand spot to bring a load of Irish lads too!
Bonus Points: Lots of little nooks if you want to pass a rainy day (or days) chatting over a few beers in Amsterdam.
2. Mulligans Irish Music Bar

Nestled alongside the beautiful Amstel River, Mulligans Irish Music Bar is a haven for those who appreciate traditional Irish music. The pub exudes a cozy, welcoming atmosphere with its wooden interiors and friendly staff. Live music sessions are held several nights a week, featuring both local and international artists. The pub’s lively atmosphere, friendly staff, and extensive drink menu make it a go-to destination for many. O’Reilly’s is renowned for its fantastic selection of Irish and international beers, as well as its comforting food menu that includes a mouth-watering full Irish breakfast.
Bonus Points: Close to Dam Square and Beer Temple (you must visit here if you love Craft Beers!).
4. Molly Malone’s Irish Pub

5. Durty Nelly’s Irish Pub & Hostel

Durty Nelly’s offers a wide range of beers on tap, including Irish classics and local brews. The pub also has a hostel upstairs, making it a convenient choice for travellers looking for a place to stay.
Bonus Points: The full Irish breakfast here is epic – one of the best in Amsterdam.
6. The Old Bell
Location: Rembrandtplein 46
Overlooking the lively Rembrandtplein, The Old Bell is a beloved Irish pub that combines traditional charm with a modern twist. The pub’s spacious interior and outdoor terrace make it a popular spot for both day and night.
Bonus Points: Nearby St. James’s Gate is also worth a visit.
7. Blarney Stone

8. O’Donnell’s Irish Bar

O’Donnell’s is located just behind the Heineken Experience, in the vibrant De Pijp district of Amsterdam, and is a great place for a beer after the tour. O’Donnell’s offers an authentic Irish pub experience with its cosy wooden interiors, friendly staff, and a lively crowd. The pub boasts an impressive selection of Irish beers, whiskeys, and classic pub fare, including favourites like fish and chips, and hearty Irish stew. With regular live music sessions, sports screenings, and traditional Irish hospitality, O’Donnell’s is a perfect place to unwind, socialize, and enjoy a genuine taste of Ireland in Amsterdam.
Bonus Points: This is probably the best pint of Guinness I’ve had in Amsterdam.
